Short Description of the Lecture & Workshop:

1. Best Practice Assessment of ASD

With rapidly increasing prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorder, the demand for ASD Assessments is ever increasing. While many professionals offer Autism assessments, the standard of assessments offered in the region is highly variable, meaning a disparity in the quality of assessment. This presentation provides an overview of a best practice model for assessing children and young people for Autism Spectrum Disorder. This includes consideration of the role of the multi-disciplinary team and introduces a range of gold standard assessments. The aim of this presentation is to encourage high quality Autism assessment in the region, adhering to best practice, evidence-based guidelines.

2. Resilience and Self-Care

Having a child with additional needs can affect families in many different ways: positive and otherwise. This presentation aims to support people with considering having a child with additional needs from a family perspective, allowing them to develop awareness of the challenges faced by these families, and consider ways in which they can be supported.
